CO-CREATING THE FUTURE: IMPROVING LIVES TOGETHER

I am honored to represent Chile as the Chairman of the APEC CEO Summit 2019. This will be a perfect moment for all participants of the 21 economies of APEC to meet again, strengthen existing networks and business interactions, as well as an occasion to discuss the future challenges of the Asia-Pacific region

It will also be a special and meaningful time for us to welcome you in Chile, a wonderful country with a richness of natural beauty, landscape and territory. Chile is the most stable economy in the region with strong institutions, universities and a world class business community named by the World Economic Forum as the most competitive nation in Latin America. It is truly an exceptionally open, safe, stable and attractive market for foreign investment.

Surely many of you share my firm belief that trust, transparency and collaboration are essential to achieve our common dream of building a better, more prosperous, healthier and inclusive future for everyone.

Today we are facing what many defined as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where important transformations are taking place at a speed never seen before. The Age of Disruption and Digital Transformation are deepening the integration of the Asia-Pacific region by creating new roads and new paradigms where success will be determined by our ability to create sustainable communities and collaborative and innovative ways of working.

Undoubtedly we have enormous challenges ahead, and at the APEC CEO Summit 2019 we will examine these challenges and the opportunities that accompany them which, together, will define the civilization that we will build for the future. Over the next months, we will dedicate ourselves fully to developing and curating a worthwhile program to explore these possibilities and the advances we must make toward these shared goals.

For these reasons, I extend this invitation for you to join us at the APEC CEO Summit 2019 in Santiago from the 14th to the 16th of November when we will bring together government leaders , private sector expertise, and thought leaders from academia and civil society to develop strong alliances in order to co-create our future, drive progress and take a true position of leadership during this exciting period of dynamic change and opportunity.
