Francisco Silva is a Civil Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a Master’s in Science from Stanford University. He has been President of the Board of Directors of Grupo Security since 1996.
Throughout his professional career he has been a member of the board of a number of companies, including AES Gener S.A., Grupo Banmédica, Enersis, Chilectra and Cementos Polpaico.
Between 1976 and 1979 he worked as Finance Manager of Banco del Trabajo and then between 1979 and 1980 became Vice President of Chase Manhattan Bank N.A. Subsequently, from 1981 to 1984 he worked as Operations Director at the Chilean Central Bank, and then between 1984 and 1986 was General Manager of the pension fund administration company AFP Unión. Between 2007 and 2017 he served as a Director, Vice President and then President of the professional business organization ICARE.
In 1987 Francisco Silva joined Security Pacific National Bank of California as the representative in Chile and served as President of Banco Security Pacific in Chile, which in 1990 became Banco Security. In this role he led the creation of Grupo Security, today a financial conglomerate with a presence in Chile, Peru and Hong Kong.
Francisco Silva is presently also the President of the Bilateral Council for Chile-China Trade.
