El Mercurio, 09-10-2019 Powerful women will come together in Chile during the APEC CEO Summit

Participation has been confirmed by the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Head of the Government of Hong Kong and the President of the Chinese company DiDi.

The APEC CEO Summit will take place in November. It is one of the activities encompassed by the APEC forum, which brings together the principal representatives of economic and political activity in Asia Pacific. 

And among the principal guests there are various women who are either world leaders, top-level executives or expert speakers. In the political sphere confirmations of their visits to Chile have been received by Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand and Carrie Lam, Head of the Hong Kong government (who has for months been resisting massive protests demanding her resignation). 

Ardern received world recognition for the way she handled the repercussions of the shooting at a Christchurch mosque last March. 
Liu is on the Forbes list of the 50 most powerful women in the world in the technology sector. 

Also coming to the APEC CEO Summit is the Turkish economist Ceyla Pazarbasioglu, Vice President for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions at the World Bank. 
In this role, Pazarbasioglu provides strategic leadership to help low- and medium-income countries to achieve the institution’s objectives: to reduce poverty and develop shared prosperity.

Chile will also be receiving important representatives from the business world such as Jean Liu, President of the Chinese taxi app Didi; Belén Garijo, CEO of Healthcare at the pharmaceutical company Merck; and Jennifer Scanlon, President and CEO of the certification company UL.

Speakers

Invited as speakers are Ngaire Woods, Founder and Dean of the Oxford University School of Government; Lisa Kimmel, CEO for Latin America of the Public Relations firm Edelman; and Mona Mourshed, President and CEO of Generation: You Employed, a McKinsey non-profit organization engaged in reducing the problem of unemployment among young people.
