Richard C. Adkerson is Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Freeport-McMoRan Inc., one of the world’s largest publicly traded copper producers.
Mr. Adkerson serves as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States, is a member and past Chairman of the International Council on Mining and Metals, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, The Business Council and Business Roundtable.
He graduated from Mississippi State University with B.S. and M.B.A. degrees, and received an honorary doctorate in 2010. In 1988, he completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and was a Professional Accounting Fellow with the Securities and Exchange Commission from 1976 to 1978.
He was inducted into the American Mining Hall of Fame in 2010 and was named Copper Man of the Year 2009 by The Copper Club. For eight years, he was named the Best CEO in Metals and Mining by Institutional Investormagazine.
