A group of Chilean and foreign companies have decided to participate as sponsors in the business summit that will take place in Chile at the end of the year. This is the APEC CEO Summit, which is part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum being hosted in our country.
The organizing team led by its executive director Andrés Varas, has been busy contacting global companies interested in the topics that will be discussed at the event, which will take place between 14 and 16 November at CasaPiedra.
These topics include innovation, sustainability, health, and transparency. To date, there have been a significant number of requests from companies who want to be part of the event.
For international companies, one of Chile’s main attractions is its open economy. However, several local brands will also take part as sponsors, indicating the level of interest among Chilean business people in participating in discussions about the future, from the point of view of regional integration. Two levels of sponsorship have been established: Platinum and Gold. There is also a separate Knowledge Partner category.
The category determines the company’s level of involvement in the event, that is, the degree of participation in the program, whether there is marked presence of the brand, whether it receives invitations to associated events, whether it given special times for bilateral meetings etc. To date there are agreements with more than 20 companies, of which seven are Chilean.
The consulting and auditing firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers will be participating as a Knowledge Partner. In the Platinum category are overseas companies Abbott, FedEx, Freeport, Marubeni, Merck, Pacific Hydro, Philip Morris International, Teck and UL. Meanwhile, as Gold sponsors confirmations have been received from Rogrand, Sanofi, Johnson&Johnson, Wu Liang Ye and UPS. Participating as local sponsors in the Platinum category will be AMSA, Arauco and Grupo Security. Taking part as local Gold sponsors will be Agrosuper, Banco de Chile, Enaex and SQM.
A public-private gathering
The APEC CEO Summit is of interest to private companies as it provides excellent networking opportunities. Furthermore, principal Asia-Pacific business leaders together with governmental leaders from the region will be attending.
At a time of growing commercial tensions, APEC continues to promote free trade, despite the fact that among its 21 economies are the United States and China, who have been engaged in a trade conflict for more than a year.
